Viewing and downloading British Standards
BSI has implemented Digital Rights Management across its documents. In order to download and print documents from your British Standards Online subscription, the FileOpen plug-in is required.
Students: the FileOpen plug-in has been installed on most University devices. It's also available via the Software Centre.
Staff and personal devices: FileOpen is available for download from the Software Centre. Adobe Acrobat DC (Pro) is required to install FileOpen (go to Start and select Creative Cloud to get Adobe Acrobat DC (Pro) and install FileOpen from there.
If you encounter any issues opening the downloaded standard, please try opening from your Downloads folder, by right-clicking (or using Command key on iOS) and selecting "Open with Adobe Acrobat Reader". If the issue persists, try having Acrobat Reader open before opening the British Standard and/or try re-installing the FileOpen plug-in. If this does not solve the problem and for further support with FileOpen, please contact Digital Services.
