Fines

Fines will only be added to your account if a book is overdue AND reserved by someone else.

We charge £1.00 a day for each day the book is overdue. You can check your Library Account to see if a book is overdue and reserved. If a book has been requested by someone else you will receive an email letting you know the book needs to be returned.

Replacement costs

Replacement costs will be added to your account when:

  • You have let us know you've lost or damaged a book
  • A book you have borrowed as become very overdue

If you still have the book, return it as soon as possible and don't pay the charge. Once the book has been returned the replacement cost will be removed from your account.

Once you have paid the replacement cost we are not able to refund them if you return the book.

If the book was reserved during the time you had it, you may have accrued overdue charges which will be added to your Library Account.

How to pay

If you have any charges that you need to pay off, you can do so by using our online payment system. You can access the online payment system via your Library Account and selecting the option of Fees.

If you have any problems with the system or queries about fines and charges on your account, then please contact library@aston.ac.uk.
