A lot of our electronic resources (ebooks, ejournals or databases) allow you access if you are not on the University campus by using your Aston University login and password.  However, if there are issues with this route or if you are having problems with your own machine not being powerful enough then you can use what is known as the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).  This is a service that is provided by Digital Services for Aston staff and students and allows you to log on to a machine on campus remotely and then work on it as if you are on campus.

Using the VDI means that when you access our databases they will treat you as if you are on campus.

Information on how to use the VDI can be found on Solve

Once you are logged into the virtual desktop you just need to open up a browser in the normal way and go to the electronic resource that you want to access.

If you have any problems with accessing resources please email library@aston.ac.uk and if you are having problems using the VDI then contact Digital Services on solve@aston.ac.uk
