Laptops can be borrowed by Aston students and staff. Laptop cabinets can be found on the ground and second floor of the Library they will issue to your library account for 4 hours at a time due to battery life. Library laptops are for use in the Library building only and cannot be taken out of the Library.

Please note: ONCAMPUS Aston students, SCONUL and Alumni members will need to bring their own devices.

Borrowing a laptop

  • To borrow and laptop scan your ID card and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • The time it is due back will display on the screen.
  • If you would still like a laptop after 4 hours, you can return the one you have and borrow another.

Returning a laptop

  • Laptops need to be returned to the same cabinet they were borrowed from
  • Tap your ID card and follow the instructions on the screen
  • To return make sure the laptop is plugged in and the door closed properly

Troubleshooting returns

  • If the return does not work and the laptop still shows on your account
  • If you are still in the Library, go to the laptop cabinet and scan your card as to return a laptop. This will open the cabinet door and you can check that you connect the laptop charger securely.
